As explained on the About NICA page, the active season begins in October and ends in May.
During the Summer, the according to NICA rules, the Jets are not allowed to have organized team rides. Instead, we participate independently in other fun ride activities.
The Jets have riders participating in rides organized by SORBA-HAMR each week: the Tuesday night kids ride (TNKR). For riders new to mountain biking, we highly recommend the TNKR. Rides are divided up by skill level, and are taken on trails and at paces that match those levels. It is the best way to start out riding for a new rider. The TNKR is each Tuesday of the summer until school starts, starts at 5:15pm at Monte Sano State Park in the bikers parking lot.
Requirements to ride in the HAMR rides: for rides on Monte Sano, you may be required to pay admission to the park. HAMR rides require a waiver for the TNKR and to participate in the TTT, you need to be a HAMR member ($55 family)
Equipment required is a mountain bike (see Bike Buying), a Helmet, and a water source (bottle, camel back). Bike loans are a possibility if you want to try it out before your commit.
In the off season, if you have questions about riding, or want to know about the Jets, you are still free to email Coach Chris at
